Austria is heading into a soggy stretch of weather just as the ESC finale falls victim to heavy rain. A dominant low‑pressure system is keeping skies grey and conditions damp across much of the country, according to Geosphere Austria.

Friday: Clouds, Showers, and a Brief Glimpse of Sun

Early Friday brings lingering showers along the northern Alps, though these move off by late morning. Some regions may enjoy short sunny breaks, but by midday thick clouds push in from the south, spreading across the entire country. Rain begins in the west and along the southern Alps, with the snow line hovering between 1,300 and 1,900 meters.

Temperatures remain cool: morning lows between two and ten degrees, afternoon highs reaching ten to 18 degrees, warmest in the east. Winds stay weak to moderate.

Saturday: Italientief Brings Widespread Rain

An Italian low‑pressure system ensures a gloomy and wet start to the weekend. Dense cloud cover blankets Austria from early morning, with sunshine barely making an appearance—perhaps briefly in the far west during the afternoon.

The heaviest rainfall shifts from the southern Alps and main Alpine ridge toward the northern Alps as the day progresses. Some showers may become intense. Winds remain weak to moderate, occasionally brisk in the northeast. Temperatures range from one to ten degrees in the morning and nine to 15 degrees during the day.

Sunday: Sunshine Returns—Slowly

Sunday offers a more optimistic outlook. While thicker clouds linger in the northeast and along the Alpine ridge—where light rain or showers may still occur—the weather gradually brightens. By mid‑afternoon, cloud cover decreases, giving the sun more room to break through.

Winds pick up in Lower Austria, Vienna, Burgenland, and Styria. Morning temperatures sit between one and twelve degrees, rising to 12–19 degrees later in the day, with the warmest conditions in the south and southeast.

Monday: A Mixed Start to the New Week

The new week begins mostly sunny, except in the northeast where thicker clouds and some rain appear early. As the day progresses, convective clouds develop over hills and mountains, increasing the chance of showers—especially in the west and south of the Alpine main ridge. In the east, skies clear again by late afternoon.

Temperatures climb from one to ten degrees in the morning to 15–21 degrees during the day.

Tuesday: Changeable with Increasing Rain in the West

Tuesday continues the unsettled pattern. Sunny intervals alternate with thicker clouds, and local showers develop from midday onward. By late afternoon, clouds intensify in the west, bringing widespread rain to Tyrol and Vorarlberg by evening. Winds blow moderately to briskly from the west to northwest, especially from Upper Austria eastward.

Morning temperatures range from four to twelve degrees, with daytime highs between 15 and 22 degrees.
